Why was My Artist Application Rejected?

You submitted your artist application and it got rejected. Is it the end of the world? Of course not; you can always try again. Here are a few reasons why you might've been rejected:

  • Your work does not meet our quality standards: This just means you need more practice and learn more about the basic fundamentals of drawing. You're invited to the forums for feedback. Sometimes your work might meet the standards, but it might be grainy, have too much white space, needs drastic resizing, or overall just needs cleanup for the web. Again, you can find help with this on the forums.
  • You need more diverse examples: Let's say you submit two quality blowjob pictures. Maybe they're of different people, but they're from the same angle. Or, maybe it's the same picture with different colorations. This is a no-no. Submit two different pictures of two different subjects next time.
  • You need stronger/refined examples: This means your work likely does meet our quality standards, but you need more "finished" examples. Finished works can be in any medium, using any colors (or lack of colors; we have some excellent black & white artists here), as you please.
  • You need hentai/adult art examples: hArtists is essentially a site for adult art, so at least one of your samples should contain adult material. It doesn't need to be exclipit, but at least partially nude or sexually suggestive. Pin-up artists are quite welcome. If you don't have any samples of this kind to provide, consider establishing a gallery on a family friendly art site instead.

Getting a message that reflects any of the above means you can always reapply for an artist account. Just keep in mind that people who reapply with other people's works or keep reapplying without showing any sign of improvement may be banned from the site for constant reapplication.

But How did They Get an Artist Account?

You may occasionally come across a submission that might make you wonder why your artist application was rejected but theirs wasn't. Many artists joined hArtists before stricter quality standards started being enforced and they were given a gallery because their art was considered good enough at the time. Revoking their artist account would have been extremely unfair. You wouldn't like it if you were given an artist account and suddenly had it revoked because your art was no longer "good enough," would you?

Don't confuse this with having seniority getting you an artist account!
