The hArtists Doodleliner allows you to chat with others while drawing on a shared canvas. The Doodleliner is still experimental, but has over time proven to be very reliable and a fun way to collaborate on artwork. You can chat with everyone from the Chat Room while you draw, and others can join in at any time to give you tips, feedback, or just to doodle along with you.
In case you find yourself to be the only one using the Doodleliner, just start drawing something, and be sure to announce what you're drawing. Your drawing will be retained for others to see, even when you close the Doodleliner.
The forums are our "old school" discussion system where you can go and introduce yourself if you're new to the community, inform everyone if you're going on hiatus for a while, share your thoughts and opinions on current topics, and post your own 10 cents on anything you want. The forums are also the correct place to go to if you have a question about hArtists in general that the Helpdesk didn't answer.
Artists also have their own private corner where they can discuss freely and get more professional critique on their work.
Our latest community project is a frequently updated comic drawn by various members of the community. You can find lots of information about it — including how to participate if you are an artist — by browsing the threads about it in the Community Projects forum.
The Monthly Jam is our voluntary drawing contest. Each month, hArtists' moderators pick a topic from a pool of suggestions made by others. Artists who want to participate in the Jam can then draw what they feel best portrays the topic. There's no voting or anything like that involved; this contest (if you want to call it that) is just for fun.
The current topic is "Beating the summer heat" and the next one gets picked on Saturday, August 1, 2009.
Artists: Visit the Helpdesk and search for "Monthly Jam" to learn how to make your submissions show up in the correct folder.
